When I was a GCSE student myself I actually tutored some of my friends maths and science as well as studying for my own exams. I managed to help my friends get from a low grade to a high grade and ultimately doing well in their exams. My teaching style is lots of examples and lots of practice questions. I love to use everyday experience into my own teaching so whatever they learn it helps them to connect with something they see everyday. Currently I am a 3rd year Biochemistry student so I am pretty fluent in science.

As well as sitting my own GCSE’s, I also tutored my friends at the same time and they achieved exceptional GCSE results. In addition to this I have tutored my sibling’s friends who also achieved good gcse results. All have had successful outcomes and are now onto doing A levels or at university.

Firstly it is important to understand and know your students strengths and weaknesses, that is why during the first lessons I like to ask them questions related to the topic of interest (such as maths) by either setting a quiz or verbally asking questions. From there I can identify areas of weakness and plan future lessons accordingly. The best way to get better at and subject is by practice. That is why when planning lessons I always ensure I have lots of practice questions for students to answer. This is a great way to really acknowledge whether the student understands the topic or is still unsure.
