I’m a creative marketing manager with over 10 years experience in the field in various industries from publishing to financial services. I’m passionate about helping young people discover the joy of writing and literature, and equipping them for life outside of education. I’ve got a solid business acumen and a deep understanding of business and economics, as well as a degree in English literature.

I’ve tutored students aged 11+ casually within English literature for the last 6 years with excellent results. My experience with young people has always been coaching and mentoring with a strong track record of helping children aged 10-16 to become more confident in both their academic and personal lives. I set up a mentoring programme in my current workplace to help employees engage with other employees and develop their skills and careers. The pilot was so successful it’s now been given a 2 year extension.

I like to be led by the student in the long run, but to begin with I discover the objectives, the student’s strengths and weaknesses, set realistic goals and timelines and make the sessions interactive. Usually, I like to begin lessons with a quick task so I can identify any gaps in knowledge and work with the student to close these gaps. It’s important for me to try and establish the student’s learning style and then adapt as necessary.

The previous students that I’ve tutored, coached and mentored have all improved both academically and personally after having worked with me as I aim to build a pupil’s confidence quickly.
