Biography
I am a fully qualified science teacher with QTS educated to doctoral level. I have 18 years experience of working in state and independent schools and 6th form colleges in the UK and overseas. I have had a number of roles in education, including management roles. Since September 2018 I have worked for my family Engineering Consultancy as an advisor as well as being a full time tutor. I am also an examiner for a number of exam boards. I take a professional attitude to my tutoring work and aim to instil a love of science and love of learning into my tutees. I am passionate about science and consider myself to be a scientist and an educator. I enjoy tutoring and find it a very rewarding profession. My approach to tutoring is to encourage learners to question and I use past exam papers in every session, not only consolidate the learning but also to help prepare leaners for their final exams.
Tutoring Experience
I have been a full time tutor since September 2018, teaching over 30 students. I have extensive tutoring experience over my 18+ years in secondary and post 16 education, having run 1:1 and small group support, revision and tutorial sessions. During my time in academia I also tutored undergraduate students.
Lesson Planning
I plan each student's lesson individually and each session is tailored to the individual student's needs and the outcomes they and their parents would like. I encourage questioning and desire to instil a love of science and learning. I have experience of all the exam boards and use the specifications in lesson planning. Each session I also use exam questions to consolidate the learning and to develop examination technique.
Exam Board Experience
I have marked GCSE, International GCSE and A level exams for OCR, AQA and Edexcel.
