Hi. I am a very experienced, well qualified tutor with a significant background in examining. I believe lessons should be as pleasurable as they can be.
Since I began teaching, over 25 years ago, I have taught at all levels from H.E. to Primary. I have been a Senior Examiner and Coursework Moderator for nearly 15 years. I also co-authored the AQA English Language & Literature B A2: Students Book for Oxford Press. All my lessons are carried out within a relaxed atmosphere and are, whenever possible, fun. However, I will always tailor my teaching style to the requirements of the student. The key to teaching is to build confidence and my greatest strength is my ability to engender a belief in my pupils' abilities. Although my speciality is English, I am equally as happy teaching Maths to GCSE level, 11+ or EFL. I have a great deal of experience preparing foreign students online for public school entry and have been teaching students face to face for many years.
I have been a tutor for the past 5 years, both face to face and online. I have taught English (KS3, GCSE, A Level), Maths (KS3, GCSE), Eleven plus, EFL and prepared foreign students for the Common Entrance Examin order to gain entry to public schools.
As a fully qualified teacher with over 25 years experience I am fully aware of the importance of lesson planning. All my lessons are tailored to the individual. Every pupil is different and has their own particular needs.
I have significant experience working with exam boards. I worked with AQA and Edexcel for over 15 years, working on 8 different English A Level units. For 6 of these I acted as a Senior Examiner/ Team Leader. I was also the Coursework Advisor for the South East for 4 units of the English Lang. & Lit AS/A Level. This experience led to me being commissioned to co-author a revision book.
On average my pupils improve their expected grades by at least 2 levels. Every one of my foreign students has gained a place in their desired school.
