Biography
I am a current Ecology PhD student with a masters in Ecology and Conservation and first class undergraduate degree in Geography.
I have been tutoring at all levels from primary school to university level for 3 years and have helped students successfully pass their exams, complete coursework and write university application letters.
I like to methodically go through your syllabus and work on problem areas within each individual topic as they arise. My strengths lie in being able to explain concepts in a new way, helping students grasp the issue at hand. I often find that a lack of confidence is the main hurdle students need to overcome in order to obtain their desired results so I work on ensuring students gain the confidence they need to succeed.
Tutoring Experience
I have successfully tutored two students in GCSE Biology and three in A level Geography to pass their exams and obtain the results they needed to get in to their desired colleges and Universities. In all five instances I worked with the students over a 2-6 month period. Additionally I have helped two students more intensively with exam prep for their University exams.
Having worked as a nanny on and off for ten years I have a wealth of experience helping younger students with anything from spelling to 11+ exams.
Lesson Planning
Initially I offer a free consultation where we can discuss your needs and areas that you would like to tackle. I will then go away and design a realistic lesson plan to fit your timetable. Before each lesson you will know what areas we will work on, however this is fully flexible and can be altered depending on whether new issues have arisen which you feel are more urgent.
