I am a PhD student holding an MChem degree in chemistry. I have previously conducted a research project in computational protein dynamics. Following this I was accepted for a PhD in computational chemistry, during which I intend to further my teaching ability in chemistry and other related scientific areas. This qualification gives me the unique perspective of being able to teach mathematics and chemistry from a contextual point of view, explaining why students are taught these techniques and how they are derived. Previously I have had experience in tutoring maths and chemistry, taking my last clients grade from an expected E in mathematics to an A. Further to this I have partaken in teaching days at the university in which I demonstrated and assisted in performing simple experiments.
I have experience tutoring a wide array of subjects such as maths, chemistry and physics. I have been tutoring on and off for over 4 years now and in this time I have developed a sophisticated approach to tutoring via locating and working through problem areas.
I tend to plan lessons around specific issues that the students are having, whether this comes in the form of vague areas which need further work or specific questions from practice exam papers.
