Tutoring Experience
I have been a private English tutor, teaching 10+ children so far with an age range between 4 and 16 (including GCSE level - English). I have been responsible for two home-schooled children's English studies and have been used to making lesson plans each week.
I make sure I keep up-to-date; reading on strategies to give a multi-sensory and multi-faceted lessons for children including those with various diagnoses.
I have a tailored approach to the indiviudal's learning needs, that being, I have changed my lessons to longer/shorter to give breaks when necessary etc.
I worked full-time prior to beginning my studies at Cardiff University, at a prestigious preparatory school in Warwickshire. I have experience in small group teaching, 1-1 teaching and I assisted in all lessons and sport. I also co-lead a social skills group so have experience in helping children to reach their full potential and gain confidence in learning.
Lesson Planning
I tailor my lesson planning to the individual and change my approach each time. Some children require visual, textbook information whilst others are better suited to a slideshow. I will meet the child/student prior to their first lesson to work out which method is preferred by the individual.
Exam Board Experience
Whilst working at the preparatory school, I had experience with the Common Entrance Exam Board and whilst teaching GCSE English, I have experience with Edexcel, iGCSE and AQA exam boards.
Student Success Stories
I have tutored 3 children for GCSE English including a home-schooled student who managed to achieve an A* in English aged 15 (a year early)
