Twenty years experience teaching chemistry in secondary schools and colleges. I have written courses, assessments and produced resources for a diverse range of chemistry qualification. I work with examination boards on marking and moderating A-level chemistry qualifications. As a sixth-form tutor I have experience in supporting student preparation for university applications. I have been a 1-2-1 tutor for two years.
Two years 1-2-1 tutoring supporting students at GCSE Chemistry and GCSE Physics and A-level Chemistry. I continue to support students of all ages and have several students living outside the UK. I am able to work face-to-face, or can support online tutoring via a variety of different platforms.

All lessons and resources are planned and designed for individual students. This is completed with the collaboration of the student to identify their learning needs and aspirations. Ideally, this will lead to a sequence of lessons targeting specific objectives. All students are provided with relevant notesheets and/or worksheets to support the lesson's objectives. Lesson planning includes an emphasis on engaging subject content, and to provide key examination skills.
Exam Board Experience
Have written, produced resources and delivered A-level chemistry for; OCR A, OCR B and Edexcel.
I'm an examiner (marker) with Edexcel (Pearson), marking A-level chemistry exams.
I'm a moderator with AQA supporting the provision of practical chemistry and the practical assessment qualification.
I have also written courses and assessments, and produced resources, for; BTEC Applied Science, BTEC Forensic Science, BTEC Animal Management and HE Access to Science qualifications.
Student Success Stories
Increase numbers of students and numbers of students successfully completing A-level chemistry. This includes increased percentage of students attaining high grades (B or above). Increased number of students successfully applying for chemistry based (also biomedicine and medicine) courses at university. Improved attainment with 1-2-1 students.
