Biography
I am an organised and hard-working science teacher. I have experience teaching GCSE Science (Triple and Combined), AS Biology and A2 Biology. Colleagues would describe me as being very enthusiastic and energetic during my lessons which I always try to make interesting while also focusing on using lots of past paper questions and improving exam technique. I believe in challenging and pushing students in order to achieve their maximum potential; I do this by creating strong relationships with students and encouraging them to challenge themselves, particularly in their weaker areas.
After graduating from Lancaster University (rated as a top 10 university in all three league tables) with a 2:1 in Biological Sciences, I moved to Madrid for two years to teach English where I gathered my first experience in tutoring. I then completed my PGCE (rated as an outstanding teacher) in Cornwall at an 'outstanding school'. I currently work as a science teacher at a secondary school in Somerset and I have three years of tutoring students at GCSE and A level.
Tutoring Experience
I have tutored 4 students for their GCSE's. One student completed Single Sciences and received an A. The other 3 students were completing combined sciences and all have received grades above their target scores. Last year I tutored a girl for A level Biology for which she received a B (after getting an E in her year 12 exams).
Lesson Planning
I have plenty of experience of planning lessons in depth in order to correlate with the specification and to ensure knowledge is applied in a manner relevant to what is expected in the exams.
Exam Board Experience
All GCSE experience is with AQA. In my previous two schools, I have taught OCR A Level biology. I tutored a girl for AQA biology.
