I am 19 years old and am a first year vet student at The University of Bristol and I achieved 3 A's in biology, chemistry and maths at A-level. I have plenty of experience working with kids of all ages as I taught ballet lessons to children aged 2-15 while studying at college; and volunteered as a Cub scout leader for my DofE. My teaching method is very visual, as I find learning with diagrams and colour a much easier and more effective way of simplifying the knowledge needed to pass exams without compromising the detail needed for high marks. As well as the English GCSE Biology exam boards, I am also confident in tutoring the Welsh WJEC GCSE Biology as it is highly similar to courses I have studied myself.
Although I have had no experience teaching an academic subject before, I am sure I will be a successful tutor as I was a cub scout leader for 3 years and I taught ballet to kids of all ages for 2 while I was studying in college
In the first lesson I intend to find out which areas of Biology the student is struggling with most, and from that week onwards I will create lesson plans in accordance with what they would like to go over, readjusting my plans by talking to the student and finding out how they are feeling each week. I do not plan to set homework as I believe students get enough extra work from their actual teachers and need some time in the evenings to relax.
