I specialise in teaching years 7 to 13 Maths. I believe the key to effective tuition is engagement. In my lessons, students are encouraged to ask questions and get involved with the logical thinking behind the topics at hand. I also think that the best way to learn Maths is to practice, practice, practice. In my lessons, students will always be grappling with an exam style question, and will always be teaching their brain to think mathematically. This makes my tuition style ideal for those looking to excel in exams. I am also up to date on the Scottish National Qualifications as well as the GCSE.

I have a BSc Maths and Philosophy from the University of York and a PGCE in Secondary Maths Education from the University of Leeds. I have taught in several schools in the Leeds and Bradford area, and have over 100 hours experience in one-to-one and very small group private tuition services over the past two and a half years.

Not only have I planned my own lessons for the private tuition I have run, but I have consulted for a large tutoring service, providing my expertise in creating lesson plans, lesson content and tutor manuals for tutors nationwide. I think that the key aspect of lesson planning is allowing time to really dive into areas that students may be weaker in, and getting to the bottom of misunderstandings. Fixing foundations is always better than applying plasters!
