I graduated with a 1st class MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham in 2019. I thoroughly enjoy sharing knowledge, with a particular passion for maths and engineering. Outside of my PhD I play chess, run and love to travel.

During the third and fourth year of my MEng I was a mentor to first years, this involved supporting them with queries they had, including going over of theories they had misunderstood and working on problem sheets. I have also volunteered abroad teaching maths and English in Cambodia and Nepal. In both Cambodia and Nepal I was generally teaching GCSE or lower level maths, however, one student was studying for university exams in Cambodia, so in the evenings I would work with him in preparation for his exams.

I want to make sure the student gets the most out of every lesson. To do so I will initially conduct an assessment to understand their current ability, take note of the exam board they are working to, all modules covered, discuss any challenges the student feels they are having and gain understanding of their preferred/most effective learning methods. Following this lessons will be planned in advance based on this information gained and tailored to suit their needs. Lessons will include some theory, a lot of practice and the opportunity to always ask questions. I am also happy to be flexible with my lesson structure if there are immediate tasks the student would like to cover, such as understanding a particular concept for an assignment they have due in.
