I am a very experienced English teacher who has taught for a number of years in a range of schools. I have taught a variety of students from varying backgrounds and abilities in Years 5 and 6 in KS 2 and all of KS 3 and 4. I take great pleasure in seeing students achieve their full potential and gain in confidence.

I have been fortunate to have tutored a large number of students who develop hugely in confidence as a result of the small group or one to one tutoring situation. They progress quickly as a result of feeling comfortable to ask the questions that they may feel less confident to ask in a class situation. I love seeing this increase in their confidence as they go on to achieve their potential in English.

I will begin sessions by recapping prior learning then setting small tasks to establish areas which we will need to focus on during our sessions. This will then lead to examining model answers to tasks and discussing ways of achieving high grades. I will set a variety of tasks to check for understanding and this will be supported by homework tasks to consolidate learnin4g. I will always mark this during the week and go through this with the student at the next session. I also encourage students to contact me between lessons if they feel anxious about their work and need some help before our next lesson.
