I have achieved a very high A* in Psychology A-Level and also a high 2:1 in BSc Psychology from the University of Southampton. I approach tutoring in a relatable and fun way, always encouraging applied learning.
My younger sister is currently studying for her Psychology A-Level and I tutor her regularly, helping her increase her target grade from a D to an A. I have always helped with her tutoring, from helping her pass her 11+ for grammar school when I was just 14. I have also recently been a part of the Undergraduate Ambassadors Scheme in my final year of university (last year) in which I went into Bitterne Park Sixth Form twice a week to help the year 12 and 13 students with the research methods part of the course - a challenging one all round it seems, but my favourite and best modules at university nonetheless.
During the first lesson I think it's important to cover the basics of the main topics to see where the student is at and also to gauge what it is I can help them the most with - so that becomes the initial focus. I make lesson plans, but none are the same because every topic benefits from being taught differently.
Exam Board Experience
I have full experience with the AQA exam board and I tutored at Bitterne Park Sixth Form under the OCR exam board. If a student is using another one then I will be more than happy to familiarise myself with the specification and adjust my lesson plans accordingly.
Student Success Stories
As mentioned, my younger sister's target grade has increased from a D to an A with my help (as coronavirus has meant that she has had to teach herself the most part of her course). I undertook some statistical research at Bitterne Park Sixth Form to gain some figures about how helpful my lessons were and they were always very positive.
