I have been a tutor for three years, teaching students from a variety of backgrounds. I have had experience teaching with 11+, SATs and GCSE students across Key Stage 2 English, Maths and Science, and GCSE Maths and Science. Having started at university I have decided that tutoring is something I would like to continue to aid students wherever possible, be it with general education support or support and advice for medicine applications. My teaching style is very much facilitator based, in which I would work alongside the students and assist them with areas of the course that they do not understand. In the past I have adopted the approach of supporting students with a question or topic that they do not understand, explaining on a separate example on how to solve their problem or explain the concepts to them, then supporting the student in another similar problem until they understand the topic confidently. However, I appreciate that students all learn at different speeds and with different methods, therefore I am comfortable with taking as much or as little time as a student may need, and trying a variety of methods until we find a method that will help the student the most.
