About Mary

Biography

Experienced Tutor for GCSE, A-Level, BTEC Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, and KS3 Science I am a dedicated and passionate tutor, eager to work with students of all abilities to help them reach their full potential. Having once been a struggling student myself, now studying Veterinary Science at university, I understand firsthand what makes a truly effective tutor. I wouldn’t describe myself as naturally gifted in science when I first started, and I understand why some students find it challenging or unenjoyable. However, as I began to grasp the intricate details and fascinating concepts, a whole new world opened up to me—and I’m confident I can help students discover that same excitement. My own experiences with a variety of tutors have shown me how the right guidance can unlock a student’s potential. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can build confidence and excel, no matter their starting point. Science isn’t just a subject—it’s a way of understanding the world—and I’m here to make it accessible and inspiring for all my students.

Tutoring Experience

With over four years of tutoring experience, I am confident in my abilities to help students achieve at least an A grade in their studies.

Lesson Planning

I carefully design detailed lesson plans to meet each student’s unique needs, setting homework aligned with their abilities and goals. My lessons are highly interactive, utilizing tools like screen sharing so students can follow along as I explain concepts, draw diagrams, or solve problems in real time. As exams approach, we’ll focus on mastering exam techniques, analyzing past papers, and identifying patterns in questions to build confidence. Alongside our sessions, I also provide personalised advice on effective revision strategies to help students optimise their independent study time.

Exam Board Experience

Familiar with AQA, OCR and edexcel exam boards.

Mary was my tutor for Triple Science in the few months leading up to my GCSEs, she was very knowledgeable, experienced as well as being friendly and easy to talk to. I would really recommend her to other students who are looking for a tutor.
