I'm a 23-year-old Graduate from the University of Sheffield with a masters degree in Chemical engineering with a year in industry from Rolls-Royce in the Civil Aerospace department. I am experienced in tutoring at GCSE and also available for A-Level tutoring. I also play the guitar in my spare time.
I have experience tutoring 5 students over the last year for GCSE Maths and Chemistry. I have tutored a range of abilities and can help students who are looking to achieve a C/4/5 Grade or students that are looking to push and achieve an A*/9. I am able to adapt my teaching style in order to help any ability and work on a 1-1, tailored basis and help each student to reach their personal goal. Throughout my maths GCSEs, I had a teacher that never understood me and the way I learnt. I feel this is something a lot of people resonate with today, especially in maths! I have a little brother with learning difficulties that I have coached throughout his GCSEs. I found from my time coaching him that I always was good at spotting the point where an equation stopped making sense to him and we would work together to solve it. I am a chemical engineering graduate that recently spent a year at Rolls-Royce as a manufacturing engineer in the civil aerospace department, this means I have the first-hand experience in where maths and chemistry can make a difference to the world, plus I can always answer the dreaded maths question "Where am I ever going to use this?".
I will work with you to find out exactly where your weaknesses are first, it's always easy to work on the stuff you do know and neglect the stuff we're bad it. It's very important to have fun while your learning and take it as a challenge rather than a chore. As like most puzzles, the more you do Maths/Science, the better you get at it and the more fun you'll have doing it. This is something I'm passionate about and enjoy doing, so I'm sure we'll have fun doing it! I communicate with every student before their session to identify what they want to specifically work on and then tailor each lesson individually to that student in order for them to get the most from each session.
Student Success Stories
Last year I had a student that came to me in order to help them resit their Maths GCSE so that they could achieve a C grade (4). We worked together weekly on areas that she struggled on and one of the issues that became clear was a lack of confidence when not in 1-1 tutoring sessions, this is something that we worked on and developed tools together in order to combat this. She recently achieved a level 4 in Maths!
