I have a degree in Chemistry, and a Masters in Chemical Research. I also have a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training. I have worked as a note taker, for a number of years, in lectures for university students with various disabilities, and some of these lectures have included Chemistry, at a level equivalent to A Level, and Biomedical Sciences. I have a major strength in teaching on a one to one basis, and I am very supportive in this way. Many learners, and other tutors, have remarked about my strength in one to one teaching. I am happy to do long term tutoring, or short term tutoring if there is just one particular part of the syllabus you do not understand. I can also tutor all Scottish levels in Chemistry - S1-S3, National 4, National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher

I have had several years’ experience of teaching learners on an individual basis, and this has given me experience of the different ways in which students learn, and the different needs they have. I am able to guide students through problems, set exercises, and produce handouts which students have found extremely helpful. Many students have been grateful for the tutoring I have given them, and many have made great progress. They have commented about how patient I am, and the difference I have made with their learning.

My lessons have a logical structure, and I take a step by step approach with the learning. I use questioning to test students’ learning, to recap, and to reinforce learning. I set homework appropriate to students’ needs and ability.
