About Rithika

My teaching style descends from my personal experience in education. During my GCSEs, I spent time refining a revision method inspired by Competency-Based Learning. This essentially means that I used the Exam Board specification and practice questions to ensure I understood all elements of the syllabus by using resources to fill in any gaps. This structure enabled me to achieve all 8/9s at GCSE and has informed my tutoring style. I provide two types of lesson - the session will either be content-based or exam preparation. Content-based lessons will be designed with intensive coverage of the topic, (either because the student has missed a lesson in class; wants to get ahead or is struggling with the concepts). During Exam preparation sessions, I will spend time with the student to fill in any gaps in knowledge, focus on exam technique and practice questions. Before these lessons, I will send a diagnostic quiz/practise questions to see what areas the student struggles with and then alongside the specification, we can work to ensure the student is exam ready. In these lessons, I will use a variety of tools to maximise understanding and ability including - collaborative work on exam practice questions; tips and tricks alongside actively testing the student to identify weaker areas. I have been a tutor for two years and I have thoroughly enjoyed it, my students have ranged from Year 6 to Year 11 and so I have experience working at different levels. I have loved my academic journey and have been very successful and so I love to share my passion for learning. As a bubbly and friendly person, I love speaking to other people and so I truly enjoy my work. I also have a lot of experience in public speaking and debating, this has allowed me to hone my communication skills that ensure my lessons are filled with clarity. Furthermore, my mother is a teacher and so I understand what methods work and so I can be confident that my lessons are high quality and effective. I am so excited to hear from interested students! Feel free to message me if you have any queries or would like any further information.

Tutoring Experience
I have enjoyed tutoing for two years. In 2018, I started tutoring a Year 10 student who was preparing for GCSE English, I really loved teaching and so in the 2019/2020 academic year I started teaching more students (Year 6, Year 8, Year 10 and Year 11). I have been a maths mentor at my secondary school and also had a part time job working with individuals with special needs at a day centre which has allowed me to hone my ability to work with young people.

Lesson Planning
I offer two types of lessons: an intensive content based session that covers the key learning points for a certain topic. I ask that these specific requests are sent to me at least 2 days in advance of the lesson so I can prepare a lesson that adequately covers the topic. I also provide more exam focussed lessons that are based on exam technique and filling in any gaps in knowledge - for these sessions I request that a 30/45 minute diagnostic test that I will set should be completed for the session.
