Samantha W

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am currently studying PGCE Primary Education and have worked with all years groups, as well as those who have been excluded from mainstream schools. I am also a mum of two, who are in primary schools, so I have an insight as a parent as well as a professional.

I am currently tutoring two year 5 students, one of them is currently working on his 11+. I also have a year 6 student, who wants to gain his confidence for when he comes to his SATs. As I said before, I also help to tutor my own children in both Maths and English, with my son currently working on his year 1 phonics.

As part of my lesson planning, I like to see where my students are in their learning by doing some assessments. This not only gives me insight into where your child is but also how they process the information. I do weekly lesson plans, along with homework. The homework is to assess your child in their learning but also to give some preview into the lesson that is ready to be taught.

As I am still training, I have come across some of the local Exam Boards but will be willing to research your local authorities exam board. I do know that with 11+, exam boards can be different but I am flexible and willing to find out more about your needs and adapt to them and your exam board.

One of my year 5 students use to have interventions in English but since working with myself, he has gained confidence in his reading and writing. Now he can stay in the classroom and achieved a higher year group target than predicted.
