I have been a tutor for GCSE students at school while I was studying A-levels. The students I was tutoring gave feedback that they found my sessions very helpful in reiterating the knowledge that they had learnt in their lessons. They also found that learning from another student meant I was able to explain the topic to them in an easy to understand way. I also tutor another student in GCSE computer science where we mainly go over python programming and they have said that this has helped them a lot in understanding how to write programs and complete their school work to a high standard.
In the first lesson, I start by understanding what the student already knows and what they haven't learnt yet. Once we have established this, I would ask the student if they have any specific topics that they would like to review. To prepare for the sessions I will bring some materials surrounding the topic that we want to cover - including powerpoints and links to information that the student might find useful. Then at the end of the sessions, I will give the student a question to answer surrounding the topic we have been studying to make sure they have understood that topic.
