About Simra

Biography
Currently in the second year of my Primary Education Degree I aim to support your child to meet their full potential through the use of S.M.A.R.T Targets and individual lesson plans. My educational philosophy is centred around the pupil and I aim to nurture a love for learning within each child I work with.

Tutoring Experience
As a part of my degree I attend a variety of placements and assume the role of the class teacher. Experience teaching virtually is also something I have as I have an internship at a school in Spain and due to current circumstances this has been online. Through this internship I have been working with EAL pupils and offering one to one support for pupils will low attainment. Furthermore, I am an academic tutor with a charity , this scheme supports children from low income backgrounds to help them achieve good grades and get into further education.

Lesson Planning
My first lesson will take the form of an assessment and homework support session. Once I have gauged an understanding of where the chid is at my sessions will start with a recap of prior learning through quick fire questions followed by the main content which will be planned to close the gaps in their knowledge. The end of each session will consist of a short self evaluation to allow me to adapt lessons where needed and plan next areas of learning.

Exam Board Experience
I have supported pupils with their SATS preparation so I am familiar with SATS examination in the primary school. I am also confident with teaching the Scottish curriculum for English and Maths.

Student Success Stories
I have supported a child who was working at below age related expectations. Through my tailored lesson plans and chid centred approach the child was then able to close the gap in their knowledge and at their end of year assessments they had managed to reach their age related expectations and in some areas of mathematics they were beginning to work at above there age related expectations.
