I am passionate about learning and guide pupils to find the beauty and wonder in all aspects of the school curriculum. The key to success during any learning journey, for me, is to ensure it is meaningful, memorable and manageable. In order to achieve this I focus on specific curriculum areas and set clear, simple goals for each session. I always try to have fun with my students as we learn and get to know them on a personal level. This enables me to plan sessions which fall in line with their interests. Finally, boosting my pupils self esteem and confidence is a top priority for me, and I look to build my pupils up and help them to feel proud of the progress they make. I look forward to working with young people, and helping them to carve out their own personal path to achieving their goals.
I have been tutoring since I completed my teacher training in June 2020. I have experience teaching pupils ranging from reception to Year 6 in all Primary subjects. I also have experience teaching up to GCSE level in Maths. I am also familiar with the Scottish system as my daughter goes to school in Scotland.
The first session will usually be a general assessment in the form of a game, such as a reading comprehension board game, or a 'Maths Mystery'. I then use this to guide my decision on the areas to target in subsequent lesson. I do set homework from time to time but I try and design it to be fun and creative. A recent example of this would be when I asked a Year 3 pupil working on angles to draw a picture using as many right angles as possible, for me to count up next week!
